New Third Course for 2010

The Committee has made some radical changes to the yacht racing in Start Bay, the most important of which will be the introduction of a third course. This is designed to ensure that relative speeds of competitors are more closely matched and should provide more enjoyable racing for everyone. Note that the J105 class will be competing in their National Championships during the regatta.

Regatta Courses

Western Course IRC 0,1,2 and 3 plus the J105 fleet and sportsboats
Middle Course IRC 4 and 5 plus all PY classes and large gaffers
Eastern Course Dayboat fleets, smaller Gaffers and the Devon Yawls

A third course will also mean there are fewer starts per course, fewer yachts on each course, better race management and a faster results service.

Regatta Events

The major events away from sailing will be the traditional fun fair, Red Arrows and other air displays, a fabulous Rock concert, continuous rowing races on the river, fun competitions and the famous pubs and restaurants in Dartmouth and Kingswear.

The Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta is a unique combination of serious racing and fun on the water, with as much post racing activity as you can cope with. It’s not known as “the best in the West” for nothing. Information on all the “off water” activities can be found on the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta web site
